Chef Butcher’s Creole Kitchen Opens at Ogden in King-Lincoln Bronzeville
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Columbus, Ohio (December 2, 2025) – Chef Butcher’s Creole Kitchen has officially opened in King-Lincoln Bronzeville, next to the Lincoln Theatre at Metropolitan Holdings’ Ogden Apartments, 795 East Long Street. The restaurant brings its signature New Orleans-inspired cuisine to the neighborhood and celebrates its new space in one of Columbus’ most culturally rich districts.
Family-owned and operated, Chef Henry Butcher opened Creole Kitchen on Mount Vernon Avenue with his children, Tonya Butcher, Antoinette Parks, and Henry Butcher Jr., in 2006. The restaurant has been cherished by the local community for 18 years, serving authentic Deep South dishes like jambalaya, etouffee, po’boys, and beignets.
Chef Butcher was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he gained his passion for cooking from his grandmother, who taught him to make roux, peel shrimp, and descale fish at a young age. Before opening Creole Kitchen, Butcher served Columbus restaurant-goers for more than 40 years as a chef for Central Ohio establishments, including Tony’s Ristorante in the Brewery District and the now-defunct Ollie’s Grandview Inn.
“It’s an honor to welcome Chef Butcher and his family to our development,” said Matthew Vekasy, founder and CEO of Metropolitan Holdings. “The restaurant brings incredible flavor and new energy to Ogden and adds to the vibrancy of the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood.”
Metropolitan Holdings completed construction on Ogden Apartments in 2024. The community includes 72 apartment homes in addition to Creole Kitchen’s 2,618 square feet of space.
